Bellevue, Washington – PACCAR donated a Peterbilt Model 387 truck to East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) for use in the school’s commercial vehicle drivers’ training program. Lex Lemmers, PACCAR engine plant manager, made the announcement in a ceremony held on the school’s Golden Triangle Campus in Mayhew, Mississippi, and presented the keys to Dr. Rick Young, EMCC president. "PACCAR is pleased to make this donation to enhance the innovative educational leadership at East Mississippi Community College. EMCC is a great partner and has supported PACCAR as we establish ourselves in Mississippi and the Golden Triangle area," said Lemmers. "This donation demonstrates PACCAR’s commitment to give back to the community," said Dr. Young. "The Golden Triangle region and the state of Mississippi are fortunate to have a company of PACCAR’s caliber contribute to our educational initiatives," added Young. PACCAR is building a 400,000-square-foot engine plant near Columbus, Mississippi. The $400 million facility will be one of the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly commercial vehicle diesel engine facilities in North America. "We have been working closely with EMCC developing extensive training programs for future PACCAR employees," said Lance Walters, assistant plant manager. "We have established offices at EMCC and are pleased to be able to utilize these excellent facilities and work with their professional staff of educators." click here

  This more than anything must explain why the airlines have exhaustively lobbied for general aviation to pay for the problem of airline hub saturation, but when NextGen also benefits defense industry corporate pockets it is probably candy store irresistible to the Bush administration. Why else would we take an ATC system that offers inherent safety for no additional cost and convert it to a system that charges more and more for increasing levels of safety? And why would we use a single system of communication delivery that is prone to solar anomalies and cosmic debris when we already have a multitude of messaging systems built across this country offering inherent levels of redundancy? And finally why hasn’t the FAA already implemented the only user’s fee that makes sense and enhances air safety –the prime time fee for airlines crowding hubs with logistically impossible schedules?

Ransoms were paid for sailors as far back as President Washington. Tripoli was a home port of these muslims. Before Washington left office he began building a Navy to help deal with this problem. When Thomas Jefferson became President in 1801, having personally dealt with the Muslim Barbary Powers for almost two decades, he had already concluded that there were only three solutions to the terrorist problem: (1) pay the extortion money, (2) keep all American ships out of international waters (which would destroy American commerce), or (3) use military force to put an end to the attacks.
